Unlock new heights of heterojunction! WINHITECH’s HJT module power generation gain is expected to reach more than 4%
The outdoor empirical data of WINHITECH‘s’ HJT modules in the first quarter of 2024 was officially released. Data provided by the National Photovoltaic Quality Testing Center (CPVT), a third-party authoritative organization, shows that when operating in an environment with an average temperature of 10.8°C, compared with TOPCon modules, the cumulative gain in power generation per watt of WINHITECH's 210HJT-66 module has reached 2.14%. As the ambient temperature gradually increases, the power generation gain of HJT modules will reach more than 4%, which is an obvious advantage. HJT modules rely on their advanced technological advantages such as excellent low attenuation rate, ultra-low temperature rising loss, significantly high bifaciality , and excellent low irradiance performance. They have been tested on outdoor empirical test platforms of multiple authoritative institutions. , all demonstrating the excellent power generation capabilities of heterojunctions. This demonstration project is located at the CPVT Yinchuan base, using WINHITECH's 210HJT-66 module and the industry's leading company TOPCon module. Installation angle is 40°, the lowest point of the module is 1 meter from the ground, and the ground is ordinary sand. Data collected from late January 2024 shows that the single-watt power generation gain of WINHITECH's 210HJT-66 module compared to TOPCon modules is gradually increasing, the single-watt power generation gain has reached 2.14%. The advanced technical advantages of HJT modules such as high bifaciality, low temperature coefficient, excellent low irradiance performance and low attenuation rate are all conducive to the excellent power generation capabilities of heterojunction modules. Through a combination of empirical data and basic theory analysis, HJT’s gain over TOPCon mainly comes from two aspects: 1.Gain of high bifaciality Considering various outdoor installation scenarios, there are no special restrictions on the installation conditions. Conventional 3 beams are used for shielding installation on conventional sandy ground. Through actual data measurement, WINHITECH's 210HJT-66 module has bifaciality 10% higher than that of TOPCon modules. The occlusion of the back beam results in a 50% gain loss. The overall bifaciality advantage brings a power generation gain of 0.5%~1.0 %. According to calculations, if choose the cement floor + no blocking method on the back, the bifaciality gain can reach 2.0%~3.0%. Back beam shielding verification: When three beams are blocked, only about 50% of the power on the back of the module remains. Therefore, when designing and calculating costs for actual power stations, installation methods with little or no obstruction on the back can be considered to give full play to the advantages of HJT’s ultra-high bifaciality. 2.Temperature coefficient gain The temperature coefficient of WINHITECH's 210HJT-66 module is -0.24%/℃, while that of TOPCon modules is -0.29%/℃. The power loss of HJT at high temperatures is about 0.05%/℃ lower than that of TOPCon modules. Therefore, the higher the ambient temperature, the greater the single-watt power generation gain of HJT modules relative to TOPCon modules. According to monitoring data in February, the average ambient temperature was only 4.7°C. The internal temperature of the module is mainly affected by the internal current of the module. When the irradiance increases, the ambient temperature increases from 1.2°C to 7.6°C, and the module temperature increases from 6.7°C to 30.5°C. Therefore, when the modules are working normally, the modules are at a relatively high operating temperature. When the module temperature reaches 60°C, the temperature coefficient gain can reach 1.75%. In summary, based on the actual data collected in the first quarter, HJT modules have a single-watt gain of 2.14% compared to TOPCon modules. The increase in temperature brings lower power loss, and the overall power generation advantage will reach 4%. by overlay installation method,  increasing the gain of backside power, the overall advantage will reach 5%.
